Life Transitions & Identity Development
Shanakay is a licensed clinical social worker dedicated to helping clients navigate anxiety, trauma, grief, and life transitions with compassion and clarity. She believes that therapy is most effective when it honors the whole person- mind, body, culture, and spirit.
Her integrative style draws from CBT, DBT, and mindfulness-based practices to help clients strengthen emotional regulation, rebuild self-worth, and develop sustainable coping strategies. With a trauma-informed and culturally responsive lens, she invites clients to explore how identity, family history, and lived experience shape their healing journey.
Clients often describe her as warm, intuitive, and grounding, creating a space where vulnerability is met with understanding and care. Shanakay also offers faith-informed therapy for those who wish to integrate spirituality into their growth process.
She provides secure virtual therapy for teens, adults, and older adults across Florida, Georgia, Kansas, and Missouri, supporting each person in finding strength, meaning, and renewal from wherever they are.

FAQs
-
Your first session is a space to talk about what’s been feeling heavy or uncertain. We’ll explore what brought you to therapy, discuss your goals, and begin identifying patterns that may be keeping you stuck. You don’t have to have everything figured out, we’ll take it one step at a time, at your pace.
-
Not at all. While many clients come to me after experiencing trauma or major life changes, I also support people dealing with anxiety, stress, burnout, grief, or challenges in self-esteem and relationships. We’ll work on building practical tools and long-term emotional balance, not just coping day-to-day.
-
It means therapy that sees you, your identity, background, and lived experiences, as central to your healing. I take time to understand how culture, family, and faith shape your story so that therapy feels like a partnership, not a one-size-fits-all process.
-
Yes, when requested. Some clients find strength in integrating spiritual or faith values into therapy, while others prefer a secular approach. Either way, our work will honor what matters most to you and your worldview.
-
I see teens (13–17), young adults, adults, and older adults. My work with teens often focuses on academic stress, family dynamics, and building confidence. At this time, I do not provide family or couples therapy, my work focuses on individual growth and emotional wellness.
