What the letters after a name actually mean
Every clinician here holds a graduate degree and practices under state licensure, board registration, or the supervision of a licensed clinician. What differs is the stage of professional licensure they have reached, and every one of them practices inside the supervision and regulatory structure appropriate to that stage. The three tiers below explain the differences plainly.
Has completed all supervised hours and holds an independent license from their state board. Practices autonomously.
A master's-level clinician registered with their state board and completing post-graduate hours under the supervision of a fully licensed therapist. Lower rate, same insurance plans.
A master's- or doctoral-level clinician practicing under the direct supervision of a fully licensed therapist, including clinicians trained abroad and those still in doctoral training.
Pre-licensed clinicians practice under the supervision of a fully licensed therapist, which means two clinicians are thinking about your care.
The people building the practice around the care.
A nonprofit structure, ethical employment, and technology that serves clinicians instead of extracting from them. That work happens here.
