What is trauma informed care? And where can I find a provider who specializes in it?

Trauma-informed care isn't just a buzzword, it's a fundamentally different way of providing mental health support. Rather than asking "what's wrong with you?" a trauma-informed provider asks "what happened to you?" That shift in perspective changes everything about how therapy feels and what it can accomplish.

If you've had difficult experiences with the mental health system, or if past trauma has made it hard to trust or open up, finding a provider that truly understands trauma-informed practice matters enormously.

Dreavita was built around this philosophy from the start. We have so many providers who utilize an entire clinical model grounded in trauma-informed, identity-affirming care. That means our providers are trained to recognize how trauma shows up (in the body, in relationships, in coping patterns) and to create a therapeutic environment where safety and trust come first.

Our clinicians use evidence-based trauma modalities including EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), somatic therapy, CBT, DBT, and mindfulness-based approaches. We also specialize in intersectional care, recognizing that trauma doesn't happen in isolation from race, gender, culture, neurodivergence, and other dimensions of identity.

Dreavita serves teens and adults virtually across the U.S., including Florida, California, Texas, New York, Colorado, and more.. with Spanish-language providers available as well.

If you're looking for trauma informed care that takes your whole story seriously, connect with Dreavita. You don't have to explain why care has been hard to find before, we've been there and we built something better because of it.
