Including anxiety sensitivity, when the body's own alarm becomes the thing you brace against.
Veterans & Military-Connected Life
The parts of service that do not translate to civilian conversation, and the version of yourself that came back.
Chronic Illness & Disability

Life Transitions
A diagnosis, a career change, an identity that shifted underneath you. The disruptions nobody schedules time for.
About Michelle
Michelle Vickers is a Florida-licensed mental health counselor and Qualified Supervisor, based in Orlando and seeing clients by telehealth statewide. She works with adults, often veterans and military-connected people, on trauma, anxiety, chronic illness, and the life changes that arrive whether or not you were ready. She is also a National Certified Counselor and a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor.
Six years as a vocational rehabilitation counselor shape how she works. She has sat with people figuring out what work looks like after an injury, what independence means after a diagnosis, and how to talk to a family that wants to help but keeps getting it wrong. That is practical knowledge, not theory.
She is currently completing a PhD in Advanced Studies in Human Behavior, with doctoral research on combat experiences and anxiety sensitivity among military veterans. Earlier in her career she worked in crisis intervention and directed clinical services for inpatient programs, and she coordinated care for court-involved clients including work on a grant-funded assisted outpatient treatment program. As a Qualified Supervisor she also trains newer Florida clinicians.

Questions before you book
Do I need to be a veteran to see Michelle?
No. She works with adults generally, and veterans and military-connected clients are a substantial part of her caseload. If that background is part of your story, she will not need it explained twice.
Where can Michelle see clients?
Florida only. She is based in Orlando and sees clients by video statewide, and licensing requires you to be physically in Florida at the time of your appointment.
What if my main issue is my health, not my mental health?
Those are rarely separate. Michelle spent six years as a vocational rehabilitation counselor working with people navigating chronic illness and disability, so the practical and the emotional get addressed together.
Does she see couples and families?
Yes, alongside individual work. Family conflict, separation, and high-conflict co-parenting are all part of her practice, with a practical, strengths-based approach rather than a search for who is at fault.
What is a Qualified Supervisor?
It means Florida's board has approved her to supervise pre-licensed clinicians. It signals experience, and it means she is actively engaged in the standards of the profession.
How soon could I start?
Michelle is accepting new patients and usually has consultation times available within the same week.
